Description

Egypt's last pharaoh. Spent a while looking up surviving carvings, etc, to figure out how she would really have dressed vs the stereotypical Egyptian we think of. The carvings showed her wig longer than the one I have here, but it wouldn't let me morph it and I decided it looked fine the way it was. Most of my Egyptian props refused to work. It took me forever just to get the sash to import in with the ability to resize it properly. It's a V3 prop, so.

Props: Queen's chamber Cyclorama, texture turned into night hues by myself. I forget what set the column comes from. The dress is a mix of two different dresses from ShareCG: Rose's Lady of the Nile and Egyptian Queen. Retextured, of course. Wig and sash from from Anton's Egyptians. Amusingly the bangle bracelet and bodice ring on the dress are actually The One Ring, which I got from ShareCG - but changed so it doesn't have any evil threats written on it anymore. :-)

And I'm not sure you can see it, but Cleopatra is looking at a Roman Keyring on her dainty finger. I also got that from ShareCG - apologies to everyone whose names I can no longer give credit to! I don't know if I have the keyring worn correctly or not. It just seemed to me as she was Caesar's and later Mark Anthony's lover, both of the Roman guys might at one point have given her a token of their affections. A symbolic key if not a real working one seemed pretty apt.

In this scene she is missing one of them, fondly and perhaps a little sadly. Maybe Caesar is no longer with her and she is still trying to cope.

This is my first render with night lighting. I hope I did a decent job. I originally was making this to do my painting effect on but decided I liked it as a render. Rendered with 3dDelight - maybe someday I'll be able to crack the Luxrender-crashes-on-me problem and see what this baby can REALLY look like.

EDIT June 4 2014: I tweaked it a bit with some things I've learned along the way. I improved the lighting (finally achieved rim lighting! Woo hoo!) and managed to get her wig a bit long and thus more historically accurate. Hope you like.

Is this the one that lacks ompf? I'd be tempted to bring some extra light to the figure to bring out the skin tones and lift it from the background and give greater shadow/light variation over the character and outfit. It's a good render as it is, but it could use a lift to get the wow factor.
